The much hyped Darkness Reborn, published by Gamevil has finally released globally and together with it, is the iOS version.

Press Release:

LOS ANGELES, SEOUL, KUALA LUMPUR – November 18, 2014 – GAMEVIL and Boolean Games are bringing synchronous multiplayer gameplay to iOS and Android with the worldwide launch of Darkness Reborn. The game’s multiplayer modes include:

· PvP Battles: Players fight against each other in teams of up to three and climb the game’s real-time leaderboard.

· World Boss Raids: Players team up in parties of up to six to raid the two-headed dragon Belphegor.

· Co-op Dungeons: Players join with allies and delve into dungeons to combat monsters and ultimately defeat Damien, the Cursed Knight.

In addition to live multiplayer modes, Darkness Reborn has an individual story mode, challenges, rewards, and character customizations for a rich MORPG experience on mobile.

Darkness Reborn is available worldwide for free download on App Store and Google Play.

I’ve been waiting patiently for the game since beta, but was kind off disappointed when I couldn’t get the game to work on my Samsung Note Pro (Yes, I’m residing in one of the soft launch countries) during it’s soft launch for the past 2-3 weeks. Now that the game is finally out globally and especially on the iOS, I finally have the chance to try the game. Now trying to sound exaggerated, but after just 5 minutes into the game, I’m seriously blown away by how beautiful the game is and the controls are definitely the most user-friendly (big fingers-friendly :P) amongst all the ARPG games that I’ve ever played on my small iPhone 5s screen. The next best thing is that my phone wasn’t even warm even after 10 minutes into the game. Other than Kritika, this could easily be the best mobile ARPG game of 2014.

The game starts of with a little story telling and jumps straight into the tutorial mode. After a minute of killing the normal mobs, you’ll be greeted by a huge-ass dragon where you’ll have a little taste of fighting a raid boss.

Classes
Currently, players can choose between 2 different classes: Warrior and Ninja (Devil Hunter Coming soon)
The Warrior, which looks like a spartan carries a long spear and shield acting as the tank class in a party
The Ninja, is a dual wielder with high damage and attack speed but has lower defense and HP acting as the DPS in a party.

Skills

Your basic hack n slash skills have 3 different levels which can be learnt as you level.

There are 4 different kinds of active skills:
1. Evasive – dodge or reduce attacks.
2. Attacking – AOE attacks with low cool downs
3. Class Special – Class specific skills such as invisible for Ninja, long spear jabs for Warrior
4. Ultimate Skill – High damage, flashy ultimate with ability to negate all damage from normal monsters other than bosses.

There’s also a list of passive skills for players to learn.

Game Mode
There are 3 different game modes to choose from:

Campaign – normal story quest (currently 3 maps opened)
Raid Boss – Unlock at level 25
VS Mode – VS AI (lvl 10), Custom Match (lvl 10), Individual Ranking (Lvl 15), Guild Ranking (lvl 20)

Cash Shop

The main gachas’ for the game are strongboxes which contains weapons and armours that scales to your level. Thus, only use these boxes when you’re at higher levels, unless your family owns an oil field.
Every game has its flaws and if there’s one thing I don’t like about the game is it’s inventory interface as it looks a little clunky. I prefer looking at more stuff per page rather then having to keep scroll through the pages for it. If they were to use Kritika’s inventory interface, this game would be perfect. There’s a VIP system in the game where you’ll be rewarded with different gifts per week at different VIP levels.

Currently for iOS users, there’s a bug where you’ll get a black screen after launching the game. The developers know about it and are currently trying to get it fixed. Here’s a temporary solution:
1. Take out your SIM card (eject the side port)
2. Start the game (make sure to totally close the APP first)
3. Once you get into the starting screen, you can insert back your SIM card.

Darkness Reborn is now officially launched globally on the Play and App store. All you ARPG fans must download and try the game. Also, add me ingame (Kongbakpao). Maybe we can form our own guild for the game 🙂
