From what we know so far, The Rose of Versailles Sanrio collaboration is a perfect match! The elegance of the series works well with the cuteness of popular Sanrio characters, including Hello Kitty, Dear Daniel, Pochacco, and My Melody.

Watch the serialized anime adaptation of The Rose of Versailles on Crunchyroll! It may not be available in your region though, it sadly isn’t for us.

The Rose of Versailles Sanrio Products

promo art of the plushies for the rose of versailles sanrio collab, each plushie is sitting down while wearing outfits inspired by the characters from the series, there is cursive writing at the top that says 'the rose of versailles x sanrio character' with small drawings of a knife, a rose, a mask, and a carriage

In the Rose of Versailles Sanrio collab, we see Hello Kitty as Lady Oscar, Dear Daniel as Andre Grandier, Pochacco as Hans Axel von Fersen, and My Melody as Marie Antoinette herself.

Analysing translations, it looks to be a marketed goods collaboration, with plushies of each character in the Rose of Versailles costumes. I have a feeling these products will only be available in Japan sadly, but let’s hope the shipping costs aren’t too much!

There is no release date for the Sanrio plushies, but with the movie not coming out until early 2025, they may be available within the Winter 2024 window.

If any more information becomes available regarding the collaboration, I’ll be sure to report on it right here! This series is on my radar as it is, and I’m always on the lookout for more Sanrio updates.

A Short Summary Of The History of The Rose of Versailles

Airing on TV between 1979 and 1980, the popular manga series was originally published from 1972 to 1973. It saw a resurgence in 2013 with a republishing in Margaret magazine.

The news of The Rose of Versailles movie adaptation is still fresh in our minds, but it isn’t due to release in Japan until 2025. As for when the global release will be, who knows?
