If you’re a horror developer eager to prove your game’s worth, or a horror fan desperate for some new titles, you should pay attention. The RPG Maker Horror Festival is coming, and they’re looking for the best indie horror talent to take the stage.
All Engines Welcome, Just Make It Scary
Despite the title, games don’t have to be made using the RPG Maker engine, or any of the engines offered by Kadokawa and Gotcha Gotcha Games. As long as it’s horror, released and hosted on Steam, you can make it however you want.
That said, the RPG Maker series has a storied history of amazing horror titles, so you could certainly do worse than those beginner-friendly engine options.
If you’re anything like us, the term ‘RPG Maker Horror’ fills your mind with all kinds of great titles. The Witch’s House, Ib, Omori, Mad Father… Let’s hope the entries live up to that
The festival kicks off on September 27th, but submissions close for developers on August 22nd at 23:59 JST. So if you want to show off your own game, hurry over and send it in.
The organizers encourage creators to make use of Steam’s streaming features over the RPG Maker Horror Festival to show off the games to eager fans.
A Chance To Grab Some Deals?
If you just want to check out some great horror, there’s good news too. Gotcha Gotcha encourages developers to discount their games over the festival period, so as many people as possible get a chance to play.
It’ll be moving into spooky season by the time it rolls rond. We can’t wait to see what the event has to offer.. even if our wallets beg us not to give in to another Steam sale. At least the Autumn one isn’t until November.
