Miraibo GO’s first season is here, just a few weeks after the game itself hit the app stores.
If you haven’t yet taken the opportunity to join the hundreds of thousands of players already enjoying Dreamcube’s polished mobile take on the monster-collecting genre, this is an excellent time to remedy that.
Named Abyssal Souls, this inaugural season wreaks havoc with Miraibo GO’s gameplay, introducing new game mechanics, progression systems, and more. It’s a sign of things to come, and this is why we think it’s a must-play.
We’ll start with the obvious. Miraibo GO’s first season is a must play because Miraibo GO is a must play.
Here’s the lowdown in case you haven’t heard about the game before now.
A sort of mobile PalWorld, Miraibo GO is an ambitious, visually stunning monster-collecting and survival game that takes place on a sprawling continent consisting of deserts, beaches, mountains, grasslands, and more.
Your main goal is to explore this continent, searching for Mira (the name given to the game’s various monster species) to battle, capture, and train.
There are more than a hundred of these creatures, and they come in a huge variety of shapes and sizes. There are birds whose backs you can fly on, quadrupeds that you can ride, things that look like pineapples, things that look like dinosaurs, things that look like trees, and so much more.
The sheer visual variety is impressive, but it’s just as important to recognize that each of these Mira comes with its own unique personality, strengths, and abilities. This variation even extends to elemental affinities, giving the game a huge amount of tactical depth.
And that’s just on the battlefield. When you’re not beating seven bells out of your human and AI opponents in Miraibo GO you’re back at your base, putting the Mira you’ve captured/befriended to work on all sorts of domestic tasks.
These tasks include farming, resource gathering, and building, while your own duty of care sees you feeding, entertaining, and generally looking after your monster tribe to keep them happy and deadly.
And you should definitely play it.
Abyssal Souls
The Abyssal Souls season is quite the statement, introducing some radical changes to a game that’s only been out for a few weeks while establishing a model for seasons to come.
Abyssal Souls is the first of Miraibo GO’s Seasonal Worlds. These are parallel universes that you can temporarily access through a temporal rift in the game’s lobby, letting you experience new gameplay features and claim oodles of rewards.
This particular Seasonal World, timed to coincide with the annual frightfest that is Halloween, sees you going up against an ancient evil called the Annihilator and the Annihilator’s army of evil minions.
They include Scaraber, Voidhowl, and Darkraven – Mira that will only be available while the portal to Abyssal Souls is open.
The character progression system in Abyssal Souls has been tweaked so that gaining levels no longer gives you Attribute Points. Instead, you’ll get a modest health boost for each level you reach.
Replacing the Attribute Points system is a high stakes Souls system, which lets you allocate Soul points to powerful stat bonuses. But every time you die you lose all of your Soul points, ensuring that each battle is absolutely terrifying.
To make up for this cruelty, you won’t lose your equipment and Mira when you die.
Along with several special seasonal buildings, including Abyss Altar, Pumpking Lamp, and Mystic Cauldron, there’s a whole new island to visit in Abyssal Souls. A geographic remnant of the Annihilator’s arrival, this island plays host to a PvP free-for-all where you can earn Spectral Shards to exchange for items and rewards.
If you’re already an expert in Miraibo GO’s ways, you’ll enjoy the variety in Abyssal Souls. If you’re a newcomer, you’ll enjoy the fact that your opponents aren’t getting too much of an experience advantage, since there are so many changes and new features.
And whichever camp you fall into you’ll enjoy spending the rewards you accumulate in Abyssal Souls in the main game.
You can get started right now by downloading Miraibo GO for free on Android, iOS, or PC. There’s a Discord server for the game you should check out too.
