Three years after its season 2, Miss Kobayashi and her found family of dragons return but this time to the big screen! The Miss Kobayashis Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants To Be Loved trailer teases this heartfelt movie follows Kanna on an emotional journey of realisation.

Kanna, the youngest of the cast must choose between returning to her blood-related father, or remaining on Earth living in the care of Tohru and Kobayashi as an ordinary schoolgirl. The movie will be an extended version of the most popular episode, reimagined and infused with new vibrant animation from Kyoto Animation Studio.

Alongside an announcement trailer shared by KyoanniChannel on YouTube on January 15th, 2025, the Official X (formerly Twitter) changed its profile to showcase the stunning first key visual created by Miki Kadowaki using coloured pencils. Check out the trailer below!

The theatrical release of Miss Kobayashis Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants To Be Loved will air on June 27th, 2025 (Friday). It’s uncertain currently whether the dubbing will reach Western cinemas.

Tatsuya Ishihara will direct this touching tale. He previously aided in the direction and storyboarding of other popular series including but not limited to: K-ON, The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi, Lucky Star and plenty more.
