Looking for a job? Smart and analytically-minded? Good in a crisis? Not scared of ghosts, axe murderers, or supernatural hooded stalkers? Then maybe you can take a post at the Urban Myth Dissolution Center. This new adventure game is all about detective work, but sometimes it’s not just criminals you need to track.
It’s out today, so let’s get into some of the ins and outs of the game.
No Ordinary Job
You take on the role of Azami Fukurai, a new employee at the Urban Myth Dissolution Center. This peculiar organisation investigates supposed occurrences of urban legend phenomena, with a mix of solid practical skills, and the clairvoyant abilities of its Director, Ayumu Meguriya.
As Azami, you’re either trawling social media, or heading into the field to tackle cases for the Center’s clients. That means potentially coming face to face with some spine-chilling situations and entities. Danger might become part of the job.
At least you have Meguriya’s psychic powers to call upon for help, but dude’s back at the office. You’re the one dealing with the scary ghouls in red hoods.
Jinkies!
To crack the cases, you’ll need to explore and look for clues to build your theory to explain strange phenomenon. You aren’t without some tools at your disposal. Your glasses let you see the spirits drifting around the mundane world, unseen by ordinary people. They might help you solve the mysteries. Just be careful, it’s not all benign forces out there.
The whole thing is rendered in striking pixel art style. That and the spooky theming reminds us a little of the fantastic World Of Horror, though definitely doesn’t feel like a knock-off. Urban Myth Dissolution Center’s style can stand on its own.
