Historia – Soft Launch

Gamevil has recently soft launch a new mobile rpg game, Histora. The game has one of the uglier art-style I’ve ever seen in recent months but one of the better games I’ve played in terms of it’s game play and story.

Historia is a interactive mobile board game in which players travel through ancient worlds to complete missions, collect items, and combat mythical creatures. In order to embark on their quests, players must recruit, train, and strengthen a team of heroes found in Greek mythology, Arthurian legend, English folklore, Egyptian religion, and world history.

With over 300 stages spanning legendary cities such as Troy, Athens, and Camelot and 100 collectible characters including Hercules, Odysseus, Merlin, Anubis, Attila, and Joan of Arc, Historia takes players on an adventure through factual and fabled time and history. What I really like about the game is it’s story. Players will play as the General of the Kaiga Mercenary party who is stuck with a helmet that cannot be removed. To find out more about the mysterious helmet, the general will travel through legendary cities and meet legendary heroes and mythical Demi-Gods on his journey. The humor in some of the dialogues are simple yet funny and kept me wanting to advance further to find out more about the helmet. Players will need to take sides in the story mode choosing whether to help the good or the bad side.

Using the game’s strategic dice control system, players can attempt to land on specific spaces containing specialty items, in-game currency, or battle challenges. When faced with a battle challenge, players are transported to a classic turn-based battle arena, where they can customize their tactics by setting their team’s formation and placing tanks, damage dealers, and healers on the field.

There are many other things to do besides the story mode; such as Expedition, Daily Dungeons, Raid Bosses, Arena and Dispatch quest. Players will also have to collect items that will boost the stats of your characters.

Historia is currently available on Google Play in fourteen countries: Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Kuwait, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sweden, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates. If you’re living in these countries, I strongly recommend you try the game for it’s gameplay (however, you need to tolerate the art-style). The game is slated to launch worldwide on iOS and Android in April 2015.
