Addictive Casual Game Rickle Is Raising Money for Environmental Charities

Making towers is just fun. Mobile game developers have been well aware of this since the dawn of time – or at least since mobile phones had buttons, which is pretty much the same thing.

From Tower Bloxx in 2005 to Rising Sushi in 2020, there’s never been a bad game about putting objects squarely on top of other objects. Rickle is the latest in this awesome casual gaming subgenre, and it might just be our favorite.

Not only is it a slick, easygoing, graphically stunning game, but it literally makes the world a better place by donating a portion of its revenue to three major environmental charities: the Natural Resources Defense Council, the Union of Concerned Scientists, and the Environmental Working Group.

Gameplay-wise, Rickle sees you building a tower of flat, slab-like rocks. Your tower sits at the center of the screen and new slabs keep sliding in from the left and the right. All you have to do is tap the screen when a slab is directly over your tower.

If you tap too soon or too late, a part of the slab will obviously overhang. This section gets chopped off, making the top of your tower a little bit smaller, until eventually your tower gets so thin that it’s impossible to land the next layer on it.

Game over. Start again.

With every slab you stack onto your tower you add to your cumulative total, and this goes towards unlocking new worlds. On top of those you’ve also got your personal best to beat, hovering temptingly in the top-right of the screen.

Rickle is a totally chilled-out experience, with no pressure except the pressure you put on yourself.

This is a game with a long-term future too, with multiple updates planned. These will add further locations, easter eggs, and more.

So download Rickle for free right now and try it for yourself via the App Store and Google Play. Here’s the official site as well.
