A friend to you, a foe to enemies! This Anime Royale Friend Guide introduces you to a rather unique unit including her obtainment and rarity, so you know exactly how to grind for her.

Anime Royale Friend Guide

Friend is special because she is the first Secret unit within Anime Royale. She takes her appearance and combat inspiration from Frieren from the appropriately named series, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End.

Alongside being the first Secret Unit, she is the first to have an obtainment outside of the standard Banner system. To unlock Friend, you’ll need to participate in a Portal Rift and succeed.

What Is A Rift?

Rifts differ from the standard Story Mode and aren’t easy to grind. They spawn on average every 30 minutes somewhere around the lobby. You’ll know you’ve found a portal if you see a glowing and rather enticing disc.

Entering a Rift triggers a game mode akin to a Raid where you must survive 15 Waves and a difficult Boss fight to be awarded loot. I’d recommend teaming up with fellow server members if you don’t have a well-trained team since Rifts tend to be unforgiving.

Friend Unit

Friend is a Hill, DPS and Hybrid unit with a placement of 1. This means she may only be placed on perches across different maps, limiting her availability. She attacks enemies in her AoE, starting in a Line.

To obtain Friend, you must defeat the Boss after Wave 15 of the Rift to have a percentage chance of unlocking her. However, Rifts also have a rarity status that impacts the difficulty of the rift and in turn, Friend’s drop chance.

The three Rift Tiers include Rare, Epic and Legendary, and your chances per each are the following:

  • 0.5% drop chance from Rare Rifts
  • 3% drop chance from Epic Rifts
  • 10% drop chance from Legendary Rifts
