What is Ascension and how does it differ from Evolution? My Anime Vanguards Ascension Guide tells you what this action is, how it works, and if it’s worth doing!

Anime Vanguards Ascension Guide

Unlike Evolution, Ascension is similar to a prestige for your units. Instead of an overhaul to their base stats and appearance, they gain a star grade and a small boost to their Attack, SPA and Range.

Only Mythic units may Ascend, which seems counter-productive given Anime Vanguards has higher rarity units, but this works in the favour of the player. To perform an Ascension, the player needs two of the same units alongside some Evolutionary Material related to that character.

This means, that if you pull a second Mythic from the banners of a unit you already have, it isn’t a dud! Anime Vanguards doesn’t allow for doubles on a team, meaning any extras of the same units you have has little use outside of being sold for Gold.

Unless they’re a Mythic unit! Simply head over to the Kakashi Hatake NPC who hangs around near Summons and interact with him. He will trigger a pop-up window and show you your available units to Ascend plus their requirements.

Ascension Star Grading

Before you perform the Ascension, the Kakashi NPC will show you exactly what Stats change during the process. A unit may Ascend three times and then earn a star-like badge on its character icon. At maximum Ascension, the character will have 3 stars total.

During the process of Ascension, the extra unit you fuse into the upgrade becomes consumed and therefore removed from your inventory. However, the first unit you input to receive the Ascension remains, and they don’t lose their existing levels, Traits or Stat Grades.

Is It Worth It?

Whilst Ascension does consume some Evolutionary Materials and a unit, it overall is worth it since it’s a cheap way to boost a unit’s performance. Plus, Ascension goes hand-in-hand with Evolution, and Ascended units may still be Evolved if all the requirements are met. So, overall Ascension is worth completing if possible!
