King has release a limited playtest for their latest mobile game Rebel Riders, a 3v3 vehicle shooter. Players from Canada, Germany, Indonesia and Malaysia can now download the game from your local App or Play Store.
It’s really rare to see developer King, developing a game outside of the puzzle genre thus I was really excited to give this game a try, and I am really enjoying it.
Rebel Riders is a vehicle shooter game where Players take part in 3v3 matches with different multiplayer game modes. We have the basic Team Deathmatch, Stash the Cash, Bomb the Base and even a 10 Player Battle Royale. Matches are really fast-paced and will definitely keep your fingers busy and heart pumping.
One thing I really like about the game is the map size. The maps are not too big thus you’ll almost always be attacking or running away from your opponents. However, there are also bends and tight corners where you can take a quick 1 to 2 seconds of breather to reorganize before rejoining the battle.
In this limited test, there are 8 different vehicles for Players to try on. Each of these vehicles has its own unique firepower and abilities. At the start of the game, you are given 3 default vehicles; “Boomer” which is a tanky tank that has high defense and homing rockets. “Ranger”, an assault-like vehicle that fires bust of 3 projectiles with splash damage. Finally we have the Lazer Stryke, a very fast vehicle with melee damage. As each vehicle is unique and plays differently, you’ll definitely find one that suits your playstyle.
Controls can be a little a little tricky as we are moving a vehicle and not human. Although there is a button for you to perform a sharp 180 degrees turn (which is super useful by the way), it can be a little slow if the opponent is coming from a sharp angle. Also, since this is vehicle, reversing is a pain especially when the opponent is very near you. Remember to move backwards in the opposite direction of your intended direction.
Graphically, the game looks really nice and sharp. I’ve been playing for the past hour before writing this and my iPhone 11 has still not heated up. As for the character and vehicle design, I think the cars are okay but the characters (toys) are not to my liking. I wouldn’t buy any of the toys that are currently in the game, in real life.
All in all, Rebel Riders is a really good game if you’re looking for some quick action. This limited playtest is currently available in Canada, Germany, Indonesia and Malaysia. More countries will be added on a later date so do follow their Discord or Twitter.
