Dragon Ball Daima has revealed its dub cast during the three-episode movie premiere across America and Canada in cinemas. With this comes the return of the iconic dub voice behind Kid Goku, Stephanie Nadolny.
Revealed in a thread on X (formerly Twitter), Stephanie Nadolny replied to the dub trailer shared by DbsHype with an enthusiastic message to fans of the franchise: “I’m humbled & honored to be back to voice the nostalgic Goku Mini!”
Nadolny previously shared her talents to bring numerous characters to life starting with Kid Gohan in Dragon Ball Z. Later she became adopted as the voice behind Kid Goku of the original Dragon Ball series and GT. However, during the dubbing of Dragon Ball Z Kai and Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, Nadolny was no longer present in the cast lineup.
What Happened With Nadolny At Funimation?
Though all good things must end, Nadolny’s leave was nothing short of involuntary. During an interview in 2019, Stephanie Nadolny shed insight on the clique culture surrounding the work environment at Funimation.
Nadolny shared that her breakup around the time impacted her work life, her ex-partner telling Nadolny “I‘m going to ruin your career!” and “I’m going to call everybody you ever worked for and just dog you out.“. In response, Nadolny stated, “I completely feel like I was unfairly pushed out and that my personal life should have had no effect on not being able to come back.”
Nadolny respectfully hasn’t shared a name for her ex-partner, but people quickly speculated he held power within the Funimation food chain to upkeep his promise of pushing Nadolny out. All she confirmed is that abandoning the role of Kid Goku wasn’t her idea.
