Colopl has announced the launch of their latest mobile game Dragon Project (ドラゴンプロジェクト). The game is now available on Japan’s App and Play Store. Download the game now and join me for some hardcore monster slaying action!
Let me start by saying that, this is probably the best mobile game I’ve played in the first half of 2016. After the great success of White Cat Project, Colopl has managed to developed another high quality monster hunting game without straying away from their usual game style.
As the title suggest, Dragon Project is Colopl’s take on the Monster Hunting genre. Players will be farming huge raid monsters in a 4 player co-op environment. Currently, there are 5 different weapons for players to craft and they are the Sword and Shield, Dual-Wield, Broadsword, Spear and Bow.
The game has an interesting mix of open-world and instance-based content. Players will mostly be questing and farming for least important materials in an open-world environment. Occasionally, your current map may be invaded by raid bosses and players will be transported along with 3 other players in the map to a new instance to defeat the boss.
Similar to White Cat Project, Dragon Project has 2 types of Gacha machines that Players can spend their Gems on. You can either Gacha for Skills or treasure maps that unlock raid bosses. Defeat the raid boss from your treasure map and collect super rare “emblems” that allows you to craft powerful weapons.
Now, although I mentioned that this is the best game I’ve played in the first half of 2016, this is also one of the most frustrating game that I’ve played so far in 2016 as the servers are pretty unstable. Perhaps there are just too many players as the game just launched yesterday but do expect to get random disconnects while playing the game.
