Recently, there has been an influx of Idle mobile games in the market but today, I’m going to talk about one of the first few idle games that was released back in 2016. The game is filled with tons of heroes to collect and the artwork on them are really exquisite. The iOS version has just been launched yesterday on the 29th of May!
First of all, the gameplay is pretty simple and easy to pick up which is expected of an idle game. Players form a party of 6 characters and participate in different Story Campaigns. In the meantime, depending on how far you have completed the campaign, you will be automatically collecting Gold, Upgrade Material, EXP and Equipment for your team, just like any other idle game. If you’re new to the idle game genre, it means that your characters are automatically gaining these resources even if you’re not manually playing the game.
Combat is pretty much automated. Characters will automatically prioritise to attack the enemy of the “weaker” element. When forming your party, it is important to take into consideration of your enemy’s element especially when fighting against the more difficult stages. The only downside of the game is that, there are no character models of your party but instead only the portraits are available. However, as a “made in 2016” mobile game, this UI model was quite common back then.
Some might argue that the graphics a little dated but that’s normal as the game was first released in 2016. However, the artstyle for each character is really impressive. Although only available in 2D models, you can see that the developers put in tons of effort into the details of the character design. Best of all, it does not only apply to the higher rarity characters but all the characters in the game as a whole. With more than 200 over heroes to collect and the ever-growing updates, no wonder the game is doing well even after 4 years.
One of the things I like about the game is how easy it is to strengthen my characters. Character development in the game is very simple and can be done by tapping a few buttons. Characters require Gold and Experience Points to level up. This can easily be collected by completing campaigns or just letting the game run by itself. The next best thing is the equipment button. With just one button, you can automatically equip your best gears on your character. That’s not all, with another tap on a button, you can automatically enhance the level of all your equipment in one go. This is really good for Players who are as lazy as me and dread upgrading gears one by one.
The next thing I like about the game are the equipment. There are thousands of different equipment sets in the game for Players to collect. The best part is that each of these equipment stats are randomly generated. This actually helps to motivate Players by finding themselves a new rare equipment dropped every time they log into the game.
The last and probably the most important element that most of you are concern about is definitely the Character collection or rather, the Gacha system. There are a few ways to collect new characters. You can collect character shards by completing quest and story campaigns. You can purchase character shards from the market place using Gold or Gems. However, the fastest way to acquire new and strong characters is through the Summon Circle aka Gacha.
Each summon will cost you 300 gems which can be gotten free by completing quest in the game or purchasing them through IAP. The rate for S-tier heroes (highest tier) is at 5% which is pretty decent for a Gacha game.
Besides the Campaign, there are other game modes such as Endless Abyss, Hero Expedition, Arena, and Guilds. Each of these game modes will be unlocked as you progress further into the campaign. Participating in these game modes will net you all kinds of different rewards that can help you further strengthen your party to overcome more difficult challenges.
Dungeon Rush: Rebirth is an old-school Idle RPG which provides hours of casual fun. You do not have to be always on your phone to grind as the game will automatically play out for you. If you’re looking for something more casual and visually pleasing, I highly recommend picking the game up!
You can now download the game on both the App or Play Store.
