With the second season of One Piece Live Action nearing release sharing cast teasers and behind the scenes, now was a good time for LEGO to announce its LEGO x One Piece collaboration.

Shared across numerous platforms including the Official LEGO Instagram and Onepiece_Staff Instagram. Fans of both franchises have already pieced together what’s happening.

The teaser trailer shows Luffys iconic strawhat, followed by a stretched Lego arm appearing from the top of the screen to snatch it up. Soon after, the One Piece Live Action theme plays, with the OPLA logo on the screen towards the end.

With only the Strawhat and Luffy’s arm visible from the trailer, it’s suspected we at least get figures of the Strawhats so far including Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp and Sanji.

LEGO x One Piece Collaboration

Eiiciro Oda shared that he always dreamed of having an official One Piece LEGO set. Commenting on the collab with;

“LEGO sets are coming! Even now, I have dozens of LEGO boxes piled up at my workplace that I haven’t even had time to dig into. There’s no cooler toy out there! For 25 years since the anime started, I’ve been asking for a LEGO toy, and finally, my dream is being fulfilled with a live-action collection! Thank you, to the LEGO group!”.

Lego shared that the full collection will release gradually, focusing on the East-Blue Saga. It’ll be exciting to see Legos take on the OPLA given the story is still in its early stage pre-timeskip.

But, following the overwhelming succession of One Piece Live Action, it’s no surprise that this finally grabbed the attention of LEGO. Lena Dixon, Senior Vice President for the Core Business at LEGO shared her thoughts;

This is a truly special collaboration. For the first time, LEGO play and the exciting world of anime meet. Building the world of ONE PIECE, as depicted in the Netflix live-action adaptation, in LEGO brick form has been such an exciting challenge. I couldn’t be more excited for fans to experience the new adventures this ONE PIECE collaboration will bring them for the first time. Throughout this project with Netflix and Tomorrow Studios, it has been an exciting, collaborative process. And I think that shows in all the grand adventures we will begin to unveil soon.” Lena responded.

The Greatness Of OPLA

The One Piece Live Action first aired on August 31st 2023. It provided a nice entry into the franchise given the overwhelming episodic count of the anime. Its first season anchored for eight weeks as Netflix’s Global Top 10, landing as #1 in 46 countries.

On top of its skyrocketing succession, it gained over 71.6 Million viewers within its first four months and earned an impressive 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes!
