The McDonalds Japan X (formerly Twitter) page recently shared a complete remake of the Tetoris official video with more on-brand colours, a little McDonald’s cup and a burger.
Tetoris, originally produced by Hiiragi Magnetite and drawn by @Charon_Mog_Kero exploded in popularity, birthing a dance trend across Instagram and TikTok where people mimic Kasane Teto’s spin from the original song.
It isn’t unusual for songs featuring Teto to gain attention since her Synth-V rework for her 15th-anniversary debut. However, the storm named Tetoris has reached all four corners of the internet and has now landed among huge brand names.
Could this potentially lead to more official Teto merchandise and more recognition in the future? Who knows! (Though as a huge Teto fan, I sure hope it does!)

Unfortunately, the video appears as nothing more than a trend-hop to mutually appeal to Teto fans whilst simultaneously advertising the McDonalds Teriyaki Burger. The song remains largely the same, with a few lyrics altered to fit this unusual advert.

Trend-hop, or Next Collab?
However, more cryptic messages from the McDonaldsJapan X page have since been posted including a silhouette of Hatsune Miku with the caption “This year’s shaka-shaka potato will feature this person!“. It seems the team running the X page are huge fans of robotic digital idols.
These spontaneous features may point to new limited menu items inspired by different Vocaloids (and Teto), or potential Happy Meal toys. However, the chance of this exciting temporary partnership exiting the Japanese region is unlikely… If it ever exists at all.
How Likely Is A True Collab?
Teto and Miku have made several frequent appearances together since the release of Mesmerizer by 32Ki (Though they shared platforms before this). Both are well-known popular idols, utilized by producers to craft songs.
However, Miku is a Piapro product (official Vocaloid), and Teto is a Synth-V/UTAU (Not a Vocaloid…). They’re starcrossed and a true collaboration featuring both officially for McDonalds isn’t likely.
That said, HIPSHOP x Piapro recently revealed six new underwear designs featuring Hatsune Miku and other popular Vocaloids. So, anything can happen.
