Following the successful launch in Thailand and Vietnam, VNG Games has announced the launch of OMG!三国霸王 in Singapore and Malaysia. Players from Singapore and Malaysia who are interested in the game can now download it from your local App or Play Store. The game is currently available in Simplified Chinese.
It has been awhile since I’ve played a Three Kingdom themed game. The game feels like a traditional Chinese RPG with some voice-overs and unique story plot that prevented me from pressing the “Skip” button. The story is still based on the Three Kingdom timeline but with a fantasy twist. There will be magic, secret Antagonist and powerful abilities, creating a brand new adventure.
OMG!三国霸王 is basically a Hero-Collection RPG based on the Three Kingdom era. Players will be able to collect powerful Generals from the Three Kingdom, each with their own unique abilities and role. At launch, there are over 80 Generals from 4 different camps for Players to collect. Most importantly, the game do provide tons of resources for Players to gacha. I’ll talk about this later.
Your General’s role play a very important part when strategizing your party’s positioning. There are 3 different rows in a party. Usually, you will want to place the melee characters in the first row, range in the 2nd and healers at the last. As you progress later into the game, the positioning of your characters become more important especially in PVP.
Battles are mostly automated while you can choose when to use your General’s skill by tapping on their portrait.
One of my favourite feature in the game is the main story questing. In every Chapter, you will be able to explore a specific map. Besides fighting the main enemies, there are other hidden objects and events that Players can trigger by exploring the map. There are even hidden dungeons in certain stages that Players can discover. To not spoil too much of your adventure, all I can say is to lookout for crates and barrels, exclamation marks and objects that look suspicious. Uncovering these secret items will get you some useful resources to help improve your General’s fighting abilities. You can also earn yourself some Gold Ingot which are used to Gacha for new Generals.
Summoning new Generals in the game is made easy by the tons of rewards given to you by just playing the game. At level 6, Players will be give 50 free Summon tokens to summon for your favourite Generals. I was lucky and managed to unlock 16 Generals through the first 50 Summons.
The last feature I would like to mention is probably the best feature in the game. As this is a Three Kingdom game, there definitely be many Generals for Players to collect. One of the most concerning issue is how to upgrade them and the resources needed to upgrade them. You’ll be glad to learn that almost all the upgrade on your Generals can be pass down to the next General when you swap party members. This includes the Equipment, the level of the General and Evolution. The only thing that cannot be passed on is the Star level as it require you to gather the specific General’s shard to star up.
With this feature, all you need to do is concentrate on upgrading your main 4 party members, saving you lots of time on farming.
Overall, I feel that OMG!三国霸王 is a good hero-collection RPG with many good quality of life features in the game that makes it a mobile friendly game. There are many features in the game that will keep you busy and these QOL features can help you concentrate on the systems that are more important.
