While we reported on the pre-registrations earlier this week, we now have more details on how the TRIBE NINE Playtest is going. Buckle up, as there are plenty of changes on the way!

TRIBE NINE is an upcoming gacha title from the creators of the classic visual novel thriller, Danganronpa.

Combat Changes

The first thing to note when it comes to changes is how combat works. The Stamina system is undergoing alterations which allows the recovery speed to increase.

Luckily, if you attack or sprint, you do not lose Stamina. Skill Cooldowns are no longer a thing, and instead cost Stamina Points.

Similarly, the Tension Bar is now a key part of your Energy and Ultimate Skills. Before this change, your Energy was separate and your Ultimate Skill had cooldowns.

The Tension Bar also unlocks access to special abilities once it fills up to the max, making them much easier to activate more often.

In combat, characters now have heavy attacks and light attacks, with the latter being the standard. Heavy attacks break the Enemy Posture of your opponents, however, it does use up Stamina.

If you manage to break the Enemy Posture with a heavy attack or when using a Character Skill, you will activate the Chain Skill.

On the topic of Stamina, performing counterattacks uses up some of it for both melee and ranged characters. If the character is at range, they evade an oncoming attack, whereas a melee character can parry.

System Changes

Like Persona, your team can engage in battle by walking closely to the enemy, allowing them to begin a battle with an advantage as long as they aren’t spotted first.

You cannot enter locations that are of a higher level until you reach the set level cap. The best way to increase your level is by unlocking achievements and taking part in quests, challenges, and more.

As well as changing how combat works, Energy is important when entering Rifts. You can now consume an item instead which grants you access to a Rift. To get these items, you must pick up any in-game drops you find.

XB Matches are similar to how debates work in Danganronpa, and TRIBE NINE certainly doesn’t shy away from it. The better you do in an XB Match, the more likely you are to activate Extreme Play.

With this recent playtest, the decisions you make during a debate are much more crucial, especially when it comes to Verity Orbs. Think of Truth Bullets from Danganronpa; that’s basically what Verity Orbs are!
