Choosing which element should support you in combat is tricky. Luckily, I have this Type Soul Shikai Tier List that ranks every Soul Reaper ability from best to worst based on raw damage stats and available movesets.

Type Soul Shikai Tier List

A Shikai is essentially a Shinigami’s ability which they receive automatically once they reach Grade 2. Each Shikai Spirit that communicates with the player hints at their personality which lowly influences the Shikai type.

S-Tier

The absolute best of the best, and why should you settle for less? These Shikai dominate the competition internal to their lineage and when versus Arrancar and Quincy players. You’d be a huge threat to any foe if you main one of these elements.

  • Duality – Mythical Shikai
  • Ice – Legendary Shikai
  • Ink – Legendary Shikai

A-Tier

Great alternatives to those in my S-Tier ranks! If you pulled one of these Shikai, I’d recommend keeping them as a reroll risks something far worse. These Shikai abilities host great potential, strength and versatility in their moves.

  • Benehime – Mythical Shikai
  • Blood – Legendary Shikai
  • Suzembachi – Legendary Shikai
  • Water – Rare Shikai
  • Beserk – Rare Shikai

B-Tier

The average of the bunch with a rarity mixed bag. Chances are you’ll adopt one of these Shikai as your first pick. Whilst not the best, give them a go and don’t give up. They hold their own in combat and have some niche uses.

  • Kyoka – Mythical Shikai
  • Theatre – Legendary Shikai
  • Flower – Legendary Shikai
  • Zangetsu – Rare Shikai
  • Lightning – Common Shikai
  • Creation – Common Shikai
  • Shadow – Common Shikai

C-Tier

Heading into the weaker tiers, you’d struggle to adapt to the following Shikai long-term as they don’t offer much move-set versatility or strength.

  • Judgement – Rare Shikai
  • Fire – Rare Shikai
  • Wind – Common Shikai

D-Tier

I would not recommend using these Shikai abilities, you may as well have no elemental advantage at all…

  • Poison – Common Shikai
  • Confusion – Common Shikai
