0

We are just two weeks away from the Beta launch of Jian Xia Qing Yuan R in Singapore and Malaysia. Let us take a look at the different Sects in JXQYR to find more about their unique Martial Arts.

At launch, there will be 10 different sects that Players will be able to choose from. They are; Shao Lin, Tian Wang, Tang Men, Wu Du, E Mei, Cui Yan, Gai Bang, Wu Dang, Tian Ren and Kun Lun. Choosing the right sect is like choosing your class in other modern MMORPGs. Each sect has its own unique skills, weapon specialty, element and gameplay. In this article, I’ll be highlighting the strength of each sect and hopefully, you will be able to choose the right sect that suits your playstyle.

Shao Lin (少林)

The element for Shao Lin is Metal. Sects with Metal element specializes in Physical abilities (外功) and close combat prowess. As a member of Shao Lin, your stats will grow mainly for your Physical Ability and Health.

One thing to note, you can only play as a male character when joining Sects that are of Metal Element (Shao Lin and Tian Wang).

There are 3 different weapons that you can choose to specialise as a member of the Shao Lin sect; Fist, Sabre and Rod. For Players who would like to have some AOE damage at your disposal, Shao Lin sect would be a good choice for you. For Fist abilities, you will be able to do some AOE damage in a straight line. For Sabre users, your attacks will be in a fan shape. For the Rod users, you can deal AOE damage in a circular range around your character.

The passive skills (心法) for Shao Lin are geared towards reflecting damage to the enemies and increase of Health Points. This can greatly help in your survivability for close-range combats.

Tian Wang (天王)

Similar to Shao Lin, members of Tian Wang possess high Health Points and close-range combat abilities. As a Metal element Sect, you will excel in Physical abilities (外功).

There are 2 different weapons that you can choose to specialise as a member of the Tian Wang sect; Spear and Mace. Spear users will be able to deal large Single Target damage to your enemies while Mace users can dish out some decent AOE damage.

As for the passive skills (心法), most of them will increase your HP and Resistance. If you’re into “tanky” frontline warriors, Tian Wang will be a good choice.

Tang Men (唐门)

The elemental affinity for Tang Men is Wood. Members of Tang Men specializes in quick-agile attacks, dealing huge damage to the enemies using hidden weapons and traps. Members of the wood affinity will have trouble fighting long battles as they have weaker defensive stats. To overcome this weakness, you’ll instead have high damage to quickly take down your enemies.

There are 2 different weapons that you can choose to specialise as a member of the Tian Wang sect; Flying Dagger and Crossbow. The flying dagger allows you to do long range AOE attacks while the crossbow is meant to do huge single attack damage to the enemy. Combine your attacks with traps that are planted pre-combat, your enemies will be gone before they can come near you.

The passive skills (心法) for Tang Men mainly increases your Attack and Crit Rate.

If you like playing with long-range attacks, Tang Men is definitely the sect for you.

Wu Du (五毒)

The next wood elemental sect is Wu Du. Members of the Wu Du sect are masters of Poison damage. Similar to Tang Men, Wu Du members have lower defensive stats thus you’ll need to overcome your enemies with high damage and status effect (poison).

The play style for Wu Du is slightly different compared to the other sects. Regardless whether you choose a Sabre or Fist for your weapon, what you want to do is quickly stack up your Poison counters on the enemies and move around until they are dead.

This method of killing your enemies is complemented with the passive skills (心法) which can help you reduce the move speed of your enemies.

If you prefer giving your enemies a “slow death”, the Wu Du sect is the one for you.

E Mei (峨眉)

The elemental affinity for E Mei sect is Water. The Water sects have well-balanced stats with no outstanding strength or weakness.

Opposite of the Metal element sects, members of the Water elemental sects (E Mei and Cui Yan) can only have female members.

As a member of E Mei, you will be trained with either the Sword or Fist. Sword users will be able to deal long range, AOE damage to enemies with a chance of slowing them. For Fist users, you will be able to do Ice elemental damage attacks that can freeze and slow your enemies. Both Sword and Fist users can also heal yourself and your teammates.

The E Mei sect can be seen as a semi-support role for your team. The ability to slow the enemies can be very useful when paired with other sect members such as Wu Du. It is also the only sect with team healing capabilities.

Cui Yan (翠烟)

It is said that members of the Cui Yan sect are all beauties. As a Water elemental sect, all members can only be females and they specialise in self-defence Martial Arts.

Players will be able to pick the Falchion or Dual Blade as your main weapon. Similar to E Mei sect, you will be able to do ice-elemental damage to your enemies and slow down their movements. As mentioned earlier, Cui Yan members specialises in self-defence however, they do not tank the enemies by defensive stats but instead by “dodging” attacks. Cui Yan members have high dodge stats and also the ability to go invisible for a short period of time.  They also have the ability to heal themselves.

I guess you can play Cui Yan as an alternate tank/support character for your team.

Gai Bang (丐帮)

Gai Bang also known as the Beggar Sect, is one of the more well-known sects in the Wuxia world. They are famous for their martial arts namely; Da Gou Bang Fa and Xiang Long Shi Ba Zhang. As a Fire affinity sect, they excel in physical stats similar to the Metal affinity sects.

Members of Gai Bang can choose to wield their Fist or a Rod. Both provide huge AOE damage to enemies. It is up to you to decide if you prefer playing Physical (Rod) or Elemental (Fist) damage.

Tian Ren (天忍)

Tian Ren is an Evil Sect with Fire elemental affinity. Members of Tian Ren sect specialises in Fire damage that can swallow up the enemies. Almost all of their skills provide added status effect such as Fear, Burn, Resistance down, HP-Leech and more. Both the Spear and Sabre users can deal mid-range damage to the enemies.

On paper, both members from Gai Bang and Tian Ren should have the highest attack power in the game.

Wu Dang (武当)

Best known for its Tai-Chi, Wu Dang is one of the most well-known sects in the Wuxia world. Wu Dang’s elemental affinity is Earth. At first glance, the Earth affinity sects will excel best in PVP as most of their skills have the ability to stun their enemies.

Wu Dang members can use either a Sword or their Fist to fend off enemies. They have the ability to stun the opponent or increase the status effect resistance for party members.

Kun Lun (昆仑)

Last but not least we have the Kun Lun sect. Kun Lun started out as a place where members seek immortality. As time passed, they discovered that learning Martial Arts can help to improve the body’s lifespan.

Kun Lun members can choose to play as a long-range Sabre user or mid-range Sword wielder. Both have powerful attack capabilities and most importantly, they are able to stun enemies.
